What is WSC QA?
WSC QA is a fully redesigned app to help learners, teachers, and parents study the Westminster Shorter Catechism effectively.
It provides bilingual Q&A, scripture references, interactive quizzes, text-to-speech, and AI Tutor support, offering a modern, structured, and engaging learning experience.

Inspiration
The project was inspired by the need for a modern, interactive, and accessible way to study the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Students, teachers, and parents often struggle with static text-based study. By combining a bilingual interface, quizzes, text-to-speech, and AI guidance, we wanted to make theological learning engaging, structured, and supportive.
What it does
- Provides all catechism questions and answers in English & Chinese.
- Includes full scripture references for every answer.
- Quiz mode to test knowledge and reinforce memorization.
- Text-to-speech support for listening to questions and answers.
- AI Tutor Chat powered by Gemini 3 to answer theological questions and provide guided learning.

How we built it
- React Native + TypeScript for cross-platform mobile apps.
- TailwindCSS for a clean, modern UI.
- Implemented Text-to-Speech for accessibility and auditory learning.
- Designed interactive quiz module with randomized questions.
- Integrated Gemini 3 AI Tutor to answer theological questions in real time and provide learning guidance.
Challenges We Ran Into
- Balancing bilingual content while keeping the interface clear and readable.
- Implementing AI Tutor interactions that are accurate, helpful, and encouraging.
- Designing quizzes that are challenging but not discouraging.
- Ensuring smooth Text-to-Speech playback across devices.
Accomplishments
- Complete redesign of the WSC QA app for modern, cross-platform use.
- Built interactive learning tools: quizzes, AI Tutor, and text-to-speech.
- Bilingual support makes catechism accessible to both English and Chinese speakers.
- Created a guided, structured, and motivating learning experience for students, teachers, and parents.

- Continue refining user experience and interface design.
